About the Designers
KimberlyKimberly's education in the mysterious art of textile manipulation came to her through the time-honored tradition of getting underfoot while her mother was hard at work. As time went on, she picked up a variety of skills ranging from draping to bead work. By high school, she was making her own clothes (the pictures have been burned, and the appropriate officials bribed to ensure that they remain lost forever) and working with her school's theatre and music departments on costumes for productions and madrigals ensembles. In college, she caught the vintage bug, and spent her weekends modeling in vintage fashion shows and travelling to West Texas to hole up with Pamela in her studio as she worked on restoration projects. Soon after, having discovered a world of new aesthetic possibilities through her introduction to belly dance, she began to experiment with costuming in a fusion style that she found to be as full of limitless variety as the dance form she has fallen in love with.
Pairing the knowledge garnered from her study of construction and design with a dancer's perspective on what a costume should (and ought) to do, Kim is thrilled to be working with Pamela to bring forth a collection of clothing designed to thrill and delight without compromising form, function, or quality. |
PamelaPamela's gift for designing and creating exceptional garments is the product of life-long dedication to research, study, and the application of her formidable talents. Her early work included designing a pattern for Vogue, and after further study of drapery and construction, she immersed herself in the art of designing custom bridal and formal wear. Interest in historical fashion would pave the way for research into period clothing and eventually led her to efforts in the field of vintage restoration, where she gained an intimate knowledge of these fantastic textiles as she did work on original garments (circa 1790-1950) for museums and private collections. Preserving these garments for future generations is one of her most cherished accomplishments. Today she continues to create stunning bridal fashion and assists Kimberly with the Larkspur Designs collection.
Pamela brings an incalculable wealth of knowledge and brilliant creativity to the design team. Her goal is to create garments that meld seamlessly into the art of the performers who wear them.
